December 7/2012

-Mrs.Caldwell was chosen to attend the Microsoft Global Forum in Prague. She left Saturday Nov.23 and she returned Sunday Dec.2. She did a great job, and placed as the first runner up! Great job!

-Prince Williams wife Kate is expecting the couples first baby.

-On Dec.6 Oak Lake Community School held their annual Christmas concert. We also had a penny drive, please remember to drop off your spare change at the school.

-On Dec.2 AB went to Buck Night in Brandon. AB won a 300 magnum in a gun draw.

-After weeks of discussion the idea made the party Quebecois to get rid of the maple leaf as a provincial symbol in Quebec was voted down by twelve votes on Tues. Dec.4.

-On Fri. Nov.30/2012 scientists discovered how to find the age of lobsters. Just like a tree, by counting the rings on the antenna.

Dec 3rd and 4th OLCS student council excecutive travelled to Brandon to receive a MB. conservation award and attend sessions. Mrs.Masson and Ms.Lees accompanied the students. Sessions attended included video projects prepared by grade 7-9 students, Brandon University and ACC students. Dr.Suzuki presented to approx. 1000 people with his enviromental message. He is an award winning scientist/enviromental activist:
-Humans have existed for 100, 000 years
- 1 billion people on earth. We need air, H2O. land to keep us alive. Every country is trying to use 88% of land for humans and 12% of land for others. Sunlight drives light on earth - Photosynthesis. Humans are consumers of stuff/use the planet and dump waste. Humans are a major part of catastrophes floods, oil spills, hurricanes
 Spotted owl- 20 species now 6 species- others in danger is Polar bears, Pollock and salmon.
People were hunters and gatherers then became farmers and now 80-85% of people moved to big cities. Their highest piority is to get things they want but dont need.
-Alaska - carribou calve, and oil exist underground.
-Air- garbage can. Humans 60-70% H2O.
